Led by Thea Eszenyi of ASIC and moderated by Samanth Findley (Chair, TMA NOW) of Gordon Brothers, this will be a very practical discussion about the technical requirements to become a registered liquidator, how to apply, how Insolvency Practitioner Registration & Disciplinary Committees (IPRDCs) are convened and what discretion they have around non-compliance with the technical requirements (including particularly the 4000 hours requirement).

There will also be commentary from recently registered liquidators, Lisa Gibb (Grant Thornton) and Linda Smith (McGrathNicol), and registered liquidator Jason Preston (TMA Vice President), McGrathNicol.

All those who work in insolvency and might at some point consider becoming a registered liquidator are invited to attend, together with their supervising liquidators. A light lunch will be served other than in Perth.

Join us in your city

This lunch is kindly being hosted in person at the same time at the McGrathNicol offices in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth – Thea, Sam, Lisa and Jason will be physically in Sydney (and Linda in Perth), and will be made available by VC to Perth, Melbourne and Brisbane.  The event will be at the following times:

Sydney – 1pm | Melbourne – 1pm | Perth – 11am | Brisbane – 12pm

12pmWhy is the TMA doing this?

Of course a lot of restructures are achieved through a formal insolvency process. Our membership includes a significant number of registered liquidators, and those who would seek to become registered liquidators. Four of our national board are registered liquidators as well as many members of our state committees. Our membership includes people who were registered liquidators and have ultimately moved to different roles within the broader restructuring and turnaround ecosystem. Younger women members at TMA Network of Women (NOW) dinners raise with us the deterrents to them becoming registered liquidators and to building sustainable careers in restructuring and turnaround.

We also refer you to information about TMA Australia’s voluntary code for equitable insolvency & restructuring appointments (EIRA) – https://turnaround.org.au/tma-australia-voluntary-code-for-eira/
