The TMA Victoria Committee invite you to their annual signature event on Thursday, 5 June.
Topic: Transformational Credit in Turnarounds: Importance of The Operational Link
In this fireside chat, GCI co-founder Gavin Solsky will reflect on a career that spans strategy consulting, operational restructuring, and private credit — and how these experiences shape his perspective on the role of capital in corporate turnarounds.
Gavin began his career at Bain & Company before founding Portland Group, a professional services consulting firm, later acquired by Infosys. His hands-on involvement in large-scale turnarounds — including work with Orica and PBL Media — provide deep insight into the drivers of successful operational restructures.
Since co-founding GCI in 2015, with co-founder Steven Sher, he has extended that lens into the capital restructure dimension, helping to design transformational credit solutions that are informed by commercial and operational realities on the ground.
This session will explore how a more integrated view — one that connects financial restructuring with operational execution — can improve outcomes for businesses in transition. Through discussion and case studies, Gavin will share lessons on the importance of timing, alignment, and understanding the levers of change in complex turnaround scenarios.
