Peter Turner
National Leader, Corporate Finance and M&A, KPMG

As the National Leader for KPMG’s Corporate Finance practice, Peter oversees KPMG Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), ECM and Debt Advisory services.

Peter has in excess of 20 years of M&A experience with KPMG Corporate Finance, with a global and domestic client base of publicly listed, private and government organisations. He has extensive experience in advising on cross-border and domestic divestments and acquisitions.

Whilst Peter advises clients across a broad range of industry sectors, he has a particular focus on the online/digital sector, retail, consumer markets, media and Private Equity.

Daniel Teper
Partner, Mergers & Acquisitions and Head of FinTech (Australia), KPMG

Daniel is an experienced M&A advisor with extensive experience in the provision of M&A advisory and strategic services, with a focus in the Financial Services and TMT (Technology, Media and Telecommunications) sectors. In addition, Dan is Head of FinTech for KPMG Australia.

During his career Dan has completed in excess of 40 transactions, working across Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, United States and beyond for a variety of public and private clients.

Nikki Smythe
Partner, Herbert Smith Freehills

Nikki acts for credit funds, private equity funds, alternative investment funds, hedge funds, investment banks and other financial institutions in Australia and Asia on a broad range of financing transactions, largely in distressed or special situations contexts. She advises both borrowers and lenders on transactions involving special situations lending, rescue finance and restructurings, structured finance, complex real estate financing transactions and securitisation. Nikki also has extensive experience advising sellers, buyers and financiers on loan portfolio sales and related financings.

Nikki is experienced across a broad range of financing products and in a number of different sectors, including real estate, consumer finance, mining services and healthcare, and uses this experience to help clients find innovative and bespoke financing solutions that meet the needs of their specific situations.

Nikki was recognised in 2020 by Best Lawyers as one of Australia’s leading lawyers in the area of Insolvency & Reorganisation. She is an active member of the Turnaround Management Association, and sat on the 2018 TMA national conference organising committee.
