TMA-Houlihan Lokey Scholarship Recipient

TMA Australia is thrilled to announce that Maggie Fong (Senior Associate, Herbert Smith Freehills, Sydney) is the successful recipient of the FY25 TMA Australia-Houlihan Lokey International Scholarship.

Join us in celebrating Maggie’s achievement as she gets ready to attend the TMA International NextGen Leadership Conference in Toronto, Canada in July. Stay tuned for updates on her journey. Additionally, be on the lookout for the upcoming TMA Australia-Houlihan Lokey National Scholarships, which will allow two recipients to attend the TMA Australia Conference & Gala Dinner in Sydney, September 10-11.

About Maggie

Maggie’s journey in turnaround and restructuring has been marked by significant achievements, with experience in London and Australia since 2011. From advising the liquidators of HIH Group in its winding-up proceedings to leading restructuring efforts for DTEK Energy B.V. in London, and more recently, advising GenesisCare on its Chapter 11 proceedings and the receivers of Altus Renewables in Sydney, Maggie’s expertise shines through.

Beyond her legal practice, Maggie’s commitment extends to industry engagement. Since February 2023, she has actively contributed to the TMA NextGen NSW committee, organizing various TMA NextGen events. Her passion drives engagement and fosters connections within the industry. In 2023, she organized a batyr-led mental health seminar at HSF, underscoring her dedication to well-being. Additionally, Maggie attends TMA and TMA NextGen events, encouraging colleagues to participate. Her recent attendance includes the 2024 NOW dinner, Economic Outlook session, and TMA Education Day.

TMA Network of Women (TMA NOW)

An affinity group within TMA, TMA NOW is about fostering female leadership by creating a business development and networking group for women in the turnaround community. TMA NOW aims to provide substantive educational programming and networking opportunities to promote career growth and help retain and promote women in restructuring and turnaround.

The Houlihan Lokey-TMA Network of Women (NOW) International Scholarship welcomes aspiring women professionals who are TMA Australia members and hold positions below the partner level (or equivalent). Applicant are assessed on their relevant work experience in turnaround and restructuring, current and anticipated future involvement in the TMA and the benefit to their career and leadership aspirations.
