2025 TMA Australia President’s Message

Dear TMA Australia members, sponsors, and partners,

This year, I am pleased to be stepping into the role of President of TMA Australia, an organisation that continues to shape and strengthen Australia’s restructuring and turnaround profession.

Firstly, I extend my warmest thanks to Zina Edwards (Hamilton Locke) for her exceptional leadership as President and to Maria O’Brien (Clayton Utz), outgoing Chair, for her dedication to TMA Australia. Maria’s leadership over the past has positioned TMA as the leading professional body for turnaround and restructuring in Australia, and I look forward to building on this strong foundation. I would also like to welcome Gayle Dickerson (KPMG) as TMA’s new Vice President. Her career achievements and expertise will be invaluable as she takes on this leadership role.

TMA Australia is built on three core pillars: connectivity, inclusion, and market profiling. These principles underpin everything we do—from facilitating national and global networks, including our sister chapters in Singapore and Hong Kong, to ensuring the organisation accurately represents the spectrum and diversity of turnaround and restructuring professionals.

A Resilient & Evolving Industry

Turnaround and restructuring can be key to better business outcomesI know that the work we do as turnaround professionals is critical—not just to companies, but to their employees, industries, and the broader economy.

TMA Australia is a collaborative, industry-leading organisation where members can connect, share insights, learn from each other, and develop meaningful relationships that drive both professional and business growth. We recognise the integral role that our sponsors play in supporting TMA and shaping the conversations that impact the industry. We are very grateful to our National Partners for their ongoing support.

Education, Certification & Global Engagement

Education remains a key focus for TMA Australia, and we are committed to equipping our members with the knowledge and skills needed to excel in their careers. This year, we are excited to expand the TMA Certification Pathway which provides a structured, globally recognised credential. We will also continue to expand our online education platform, offering high-quality content from leading experts across our network.

On the policy front, we will continue to keep our TMA members informed of legislative and market changes. Our close relationships with TMA Global and other international chapters allow us to share market insights and industry best practices.

The TMA National Conference – October 2025

A highlight of our calendar will be the TMA Australia National Conference taking place this year at 1 Hotels in Melbourne with an updated and dynamic program. This year’s conference promises to be bigger than ever, featuring an exceptional lineup of industry leaders, global perspectives, and high-profile speakers. Further details are to be announced but we encourage you to book tickets early.

TMA Australia is in an exciting phase, and I invite each of you—members, sponsors, and partners—to be active in our next chapter. Amidst a weakening economy and geopolitical changes, demand for turnaround expertise is set to grow. Together, we will drive the industry forward.

I look forward to engaging with you all in the months ahead.
