back to newsWA’s Place in the Nation: An Overview of WA’s Green Shoots, Economic Risks and Policy Changes
By Jason Tracy, Deloitte
Event Recap – Earlier this month TMA members and their guests received a comprehensive review of the current WA economic outlook and the themes driving commerce in the near future.
An audience of 70 people heard James Campbell-Sloan, Macroeconomist, from Deloitte Access Economics give an overview the forces influencing the state economy and its prospects. While business investment, employment and commodity demand are all going in the right direction, WA has a significant exposure to China, the most significant experienced by any state.
Matthew Donnelly, Deloitte, invited James to join a panel which included Elizabeth Fells, Director of Federal-State Relations, Department of Premier and Cabinet, and Chris Stavrianou, Head of Perth Office, Commonwealth Treasury.
The panel ranged broadly over topics including business investment, labour productivity, the reshaping of retail, state infrastructure planning, and investment, and federal-state relations – and of course, WA’s share of GST!
